About 32CrMo12 (1.7361) Chromium-Molybdenum Alloy Steel

Definition: 32CrMo12 (Material Number 1.7361) is a European-standard (EN 10083) chromium-molybdenum alloy steel with a high chromium content of 2.80–3.30% and carbon content of 0.28–0.35%. It delivers tensile strength >900 MPa (<160mm section), excellent hardenability for large sections (>330mm), and MQ quality grade per ISO 6336-5 — making it the preferred alloy steel for high-load, large-section industrial forgings such as wind turbine gear shafts and sugar mill pinion shafts.

32CrMo12 (material number 1.7361) is a high-strength, high-hardenability, high-fatigue-resistance chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. It has excellent comprehensive mechanical properties, good hardenability, good tempering resistance and good dimensional stability after heat treatment. Manufacturing Process & Quality Control

Our 32CrMo12 (1.7361) forging parts are produced with the following strict manufacturing process, and fully meet the EN 10083 standard:

  • Steel Melting: Electric arc furnace (EAF) or oxygen blast converter + ladle treatment (LF) + vacuum degassing (VD/VOD)
  • Raw Material Inspection: Radioactivity testing and chemical composition testing
  • Open Die Forging: 0.75T/1T/3T/6T/9T electro-hydraulic forging hammer, 2000T/4000T/6300T hydraulic forging presses, and a reasonable forging ratio to improve grain structure
