What is Incoloy 825 (Alloy 825 / UNS N08825)?

Incoloy 825 is a nickel-chromium-iron solid solution strengthened alloy, with a nominal chemical composition of 42% nickel, 21% chromium, 22% iron, plus optimized additions of molybdenum, titanium, and copper. This formula makes the alloy get great corrosion resistance in both oxidizing and reducing environments, good resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and stable mechanical properties at room and elevated temperatures,making it an ideal material for heavy-duty forging parts in harsh working conditions.

Incoloy 825 has corrosion resistant against sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), nitric acid, and chloride-containing media. Its resistance to hydrogen sulfide and CO₂ corrosion makes it fully qualified for NACE MR0175 sour service in oil and gas uses. The alloy is shipped after solution annealing heat treatment (typically 940–980‽C, water quench) to get good corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.
