Open Die Forging Steps – How Do We Produce Forged Bars

Every forged forging bar from Jiangsu Liangyi is made by a strict 7-step open die forging manufacturing method, in this case it will have great mechanical properties, good size accuracy and full quality traceability:

Raw Material Procurement & Incoming Inspection

Choose certified steel billets per suitable material grade (ASTM, DIN, EN or JIS). Check chemical composition on arrival and make records in certification.

Billet Heating

Heat the billet to the best forging temperature (normally 1100°C–1250°C for carbon/alloy steel; adjustable for stainless steel and nickel alloys) for uniform plastic deformation.

Open Die Forging (10,000-ton Press)

Compress and shape the heated billet under a 10,000-ton hydraulic press. Refine the grain structure multiple times, eliminate voids, and shape the bars into round, flat, square, hollow, or rectangular forms.

Heat Treatment (Annealing / Normalizing / Q&T / Solution + Aging)

We carry out heat treatment in accordance with clients’ technical requirements and provide heat treatment records and hardness test reports.

Rough & Finish CNC Machining

Machine to required sizes using CNC equipment. Surface finish, size tolerance, straightness and concentricity checked against clients’ drawings.

100% Quality Inspection & NDT Testing

We will do inspection on chemical composition, mechanical property (tensile, yield, elongation, impact), UT, PT, grain size, and other NDT per client and standard requirements. We also accept Third-party inspection like SGS, BV, TÜV.

Provide MTC 3.1/3.2 certification. Apply a rust-preventive oil coating. Pack in wooden cases or pallets for ocean freight. Arrange international shipping to the client's destination worldwide.
