18CrMo4 (1.7243) Material Specifications & Production Standards
18CrMo4 (material No. 1.7243) is a widely used European standard low alloy quenched steel defined in EN 10084. It is engineered for uses subject to high pressure and dynamic varying loads, mainly chosen for parts with sizes up to 155mm. It is the ideal material for steel rollers, bit cutters, bushings, pinions, gear wheels and drill bit inserts. The steel can be safely welded before carburizing after proper preheating.

- Full vacuum degassing treatment to reduce internal porosity and improve material purity

- Calcium addition for deoxidization is strictly prohibited before vacuum degassing
- Trace calcium addition (maximum 15 ppm) allowed after vacuum degassing to improve casting quality
