Heat Treatment Specifications for 1.2714 Forged Parts
We provide standard and customized heat treatment process for 55NiCrMoV7 forging parts. This process can give the forged parts the hardness and mechanical properties you need. We have all the records of the heat treatment that came with the inspection report:
Soft Annealing
Heat to 650-700℃, cool slowly in furnace. This process produces a maximum Brinell hardness of 248 HB, ideal for subsequent machining operations, reducing tool wear and improving machining efficiency.
Stress Relieving
To eliminate the processing stress and reduce the deformation during the final heat treatment, we heat the parts to 650°C and maintain the temperature for one hour (the holding time may be longer for larger parts), and then conduct controlled air cooling. For complex-shaped parts and precision-machined components, it is strongly recommended to terminate this process.
Hardening
- First, perform the hardening treatment at a temperature of 830-870 degrees Celsius. Then, after quenching, it is necessary to heat treat the surface of the part with a high-temperature furnace for 30 minutes.
- Air Quenching: Air-burning first, then material alls, quenched at a temperature of 830-900 degrees Celsius and for large parts, the deformation is extremely small.Complex-shaped components
Tempering Hardness Reference
Hardness of 1.2714 steel after tempering at different temperatures (reference values, fully customizable according to your application requirements):
- 300℃ tempering: ~54 HRC
- 350℃ tempering: ~52 HRC

- 450℃ tempering: ~50 HRC
- 500℃ tempering: ~49 HRC
- 550℃ tempering: ~48 HRC
