Standard Heat Treatment Method for 1.2713 (55NiCrMoV6) Forgings
We offer pre-machined 1.2713 forged parts. You can choose from our standard heat treatment options. This heat treatment helps optimize the material’s performance for your specific use. We also provide fully traceable records of the entire process:
Soft Annealing
Heat the parts to 670-700°C, then cool them slowly in the furnace. This can make it get the maximum Brinell hardness 250 HB. It’s perfect for the following precision machining.
Stress Relieving
This step is to remove machining stresses. It also reduces distortion during the final heat treatment. The parts are heated up to about 650°C and kept at that temperature for 1-2 hours, then cool them in the air.
Hardening
Heat the parts to 830-870°C to harden and then quench them in oil. After quenching, the hardness can reach 57-61 HRC.
Tempering
Tempering is done at a temperature between 400-700°C. We can adjust the hardness value. This adjustment is to match your specific working conditions and performance needs.
Mechanical Properties of 1.2713 (55NiCrMoV6) Forged Steel
We strictly test and verify the mechanical properties of our 55NiCrMoV6 forged steel, and provide complete test reports. The hardness values after heat treating are as follows:

Cases Study
Case 1: Hot Forging Die & Press Tooling for European Automotive Manufacturing
Our 1.2713 forged die holders, closed-die forging inserts and press anvils are supplied to a leading European automotive parts manufacturer. ESR melted 55NiCrMoV6 steel has a uniform microstructure and great hot hardness. It provides 30% longer service life than traditional die steels in continuous hot forging production. This greatly reduces the customer’s downtime and mold replacement costs.
Case 2: Non-Ferrous Metal Extrusion Tooling for Asian Metal Processing Plants
We have provided many products to a large domestic non-ferrous metal processing plant. The products include 55NiCrMoV6 seamless rolled rings, extrusion piercers and trimming plates. These products are used for copper and light metal alloy pipe extrusion lines. The 1.2713 tooling maintained good wear resistance under high-load and high-temperature extrusion conditions. It also has good thermal stability which can help the customer increase the product qualification rate to 99.2%. It also reduced the frequency of tooling maintenance by 40%.
Case 3: Heavy-Duty Transmission Shafts for Australian Mining Machinery
Our 55NiCrMoV6 forged gear shafts, pinion shafts, and spindles are quenched and tempered. These parts are used in heavy-duty reducer systems for an Australian mining equipment manufacturer. Our 1.2713 forged shafts have undergone professional heat treatment and have high impact toughness. These shafts have stable mechanical performance in high-torque shock conditions. They can work well for more than 2 years in hard mining environments.
