Standard Melting & Heat Treatment Process
Following are our standard melting process for forged cylinders:
- EAF+LF+VD (Electric Arc Furnace + Ladle Refining + Vacuum Degassing) for carbon and alloy steel
- VIM+ESR (Vacuum Induction Melting + Electroslag Remelting) for high-end super alloys
This process effectively reduces the content of harmful impurities and gases in the steel and improves material purity, which makes sure the material mechanical properties are stable.
We also provide customized heat treatment solutions, including quenching and tempering, solution treatment, and aging heat treatment, to improve the microstructure and mechanical properties of the forged cylinder for your specific working conditions.
Full-Process Forging Quality Control Flow
- Raw Material Incoming Inspection: Buy the steel ingot with full traceability documents, and we will test the chemical composition of each part.
- Ingot Cutting & Pre-Heating: Make the ingot into the shape based on product size, and then heat it in a natural gas heating furnace with real-time temperature monitoring.
- Precision Open Die Forging: Forge the ingot by 2000T-6300T hydraulic forging press with a forging ratio ≥4:1.
- Post-Forging Heat Treatment: Normalize or anneal heat treatment the ingot to delete internal stress and refine grain size.
- Rough Machining & Preliminary Inspection: use the drawing to do rough machining , and then do preliminary nondestructive testing (UT, MT), dimensional check, and hardness test.
- Final Heat Treatment: Apply quenching and tempering, solution treatment or aging heat treatment according to the material and performance requirements.
- Performance Testing & Full Inspection: Apply mechanical properties test, 100% nondestructive testing, hardness test, grain size inspection, and full dimension test.
- Finish CNC Machining: Fine CNC machining according to the final drawing, to get the required dimensional tolerance and surface finish.
- Final Inspection & Shipment Preparation:Check final dimension and surface ,mark permanent steel stamp, package anti-rust,and prepare MTC document
