ASTM A182 F22 Alloy Steel Forging Overview & Standard Accordance

What is ASTM A182 Grade F22 Steel?

ASTM A182 F22 (also known as ASME SA182 F22, 2.25Cr-1Mo steel, Chromium-Molybdenum alloy steel F22) is a high-strength, deep-hardening, fully heat-treatable low alloy steel, globally known as the industry standard for high-temperature, high-pressure industrial uses, and a premium upgrade over traditional AISI 4130 steel.

Its main alloying elements include 0.05-0.15% carbon, 2.25% chromium, and 1.0% molybdenum. It has great creep resistance, high-temperature tensile strength and great corrosion resistance in sour service (H2S) environments. This makes ASTM A182 F22 forging parts the best choice for critical uses in oil & gas, power generation, petrochemical and nuclear industries worldwide.

Established in 1997, Jiangsu Liangyi Co.,Limited is a professional leading manufacturer of custom ASTM A182-F22, ASTM A182 Grade F22, ASME SA182 F22, and ASTM A366 F22 open die forgings and seamless rolled rings in China. Frequently Asked Questions About ASTM A182 F22 Forging Parts

ASTM A182 F22 is a low alloy steel with 2.25% Chromium and 1% Molybdenum (2.25Cr 1Mo). It is used in high-temperature and high-pressure industries, and it has deep-hardening, heat-treatable, good creep resistance and corrosion resistance in sour service environments.

The maximum hardness of F22 forgings is limited to 22 HRC which make sure it can meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 and be used for sour oil and gas service with H₂S environments

F22 forgings are used in oil and gas wellhead equipment, downhole drilling tools and fracturing pumps. They are also used in nuclear power reactor parts, gas and steam turbine parts, pressure vessels, heat exchangers and boilers. In addition, they can be found in petrochemical refining equipment and valve parts.

Our ASTM A182 F22 forging parts meet international standards including ASTM A182/A182M, ASME SA182/SA182M, ASTM A366, NACE MR-0175 / ISO 15156, EN 10204 3.1/3.2, API 6A, PED 2014/68/EU and ISO 9001:2015. We can also meet customers' other requirements.

The normal production time for custom F22 forgings is 20–35 days which depends on your drawings, order quantity and machining needs. For urgent projects, we also provide fast production. Simple parts can be finished in 10 days.

No, F22 is not stainless steel. It is a chromium-molybdenum low alloy steel, with a chromium content of 2.00-2.50% (stainless steel requires a minimum of 10.5% chromium). It has better high-temperature strength and harden ability than carbon steel, and it can be used under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions

The main difference is the alloy content. F22 contains 2.00–2.50% chromium and 0.87–1.13% molybdenum. F11 contains 1.00–1.50% chromium and 0.44–0.65% molybdenum. F22 has better high-temperature strength, creep resistance and harden ability. It is a good choice for high-pressure and high-temperature uses.
