21MnCr5 (1.2162) Case Hardened Steel Overview
21MnCr5 (also known as 1.2162 in the DIN EN standard system) is a manganese-chromium case hardening steel defined in DIN EN 10084, with a carbon content of 0.18–0.24%, manganese 1.1–1.4%, and chromium 1.0–1.3%. After carburizing and quenching heat treatment, it has a surface hardness of 60-62 HRC with a tough impact-resistant core, making it the best material for cold forming dies, plastic molds, automotive parts and hydraulic parts.
Jiangsu Liangyi is a professional ISO 9001:2015 certified manufacturer. Our main products are 1.2162 (21MnCr5) open die forging parts and seamless rolled steel forged rings. With over 25 years of professional forging experience, we supply high-quality 21MnCr5 forged parts to different clients in more than 50 countries across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Australia, and Southeast Asia. According to DIN EN 10084:2008 — the international standard for surface-hardened steels — 21MnCr5 (steel number 1.2162) is defined as a manganese-chromium surface-hardened steel, with a chromium content of 1.0–1.3% and a manganese content of 1.1–1.4%, designed for carburizing treatments to produce high surface hardness and toughness strength. 21MnCr5 (also known as 1.2162 in the DIN EN 10084 standard system) is a good manganese-chromium surface-hardened steel. After carburizing and quenching, the surface hardness can reach (60-62 HRC). 1.2162 steel is the best material for many critical industries that require high surface wear resistance and core impact toughness, even under heavy loads and harsh working conditions.Custom 21MnCr5 (1.2162) Forged Product Shapes
