Material Overview: 1.6946 30CrMoNiV5-11 Creep Resisting Steel
1.6946, also known as 30CrMoNiV5-11 (alternate spellings: 30CrMoNiV511, 30CrMoNiV5.11), is a low-alloy creep resisting steel. It is made and heat treated according to SEW 555 (1984) for heavy forgings used in turbine and generator production. This material has excellent creep resistance, stable mechanical properties, and high fatigue strength, and it is used under medium-to-high temperature (up to 500°C) and high-pressure working conditions.
As a top China supplier of 1.6946 forging steel, we make custom forged parts for steam and gas turbine rotor shafts, turbine blades, valve spindles, high-strength fasteners, seamless rolled rings, and other heavy-duty parts for power generation, oil & gas, and industrial turbomachinery.
Main Advantages of 1.6946 30CrMoNiV5-11 Forging Steel
Compared with standard alloy steels such as 42CrMo4 (1.7225) and 34CrNiMo6 (1.6582), 1.6946 (30CrMoNiV5-11)forging material performs significantly better under extreme high-temperature service conditions:
- Superior High-Temperature Creep Resistance: It keeps its yield strength and creep performance stable at high temperatures, up to 500°C, which is 100–150°C higher than regular low-alloy steels. This makes it the best material for steam turbine and gas turbine parts.
- Great Through-Hardening Performance: Excellent Through-Hardening Performance: Consistent through-hardening capability for heavy-section forgings (up to 1500mm thickness), ensuring consistent mechanical properties from surface to core of large rotor shafts and heavy seamless rolled rings.
- High Fatigue & Impact Toughness: Improved alloy composition with vanadium microalloying has excellent low-temperature impact resistance and anti-fatigue performance, reducing failure risk under cyclic loading in rotating equipment.
- Ultra-Low Purity Control: Our 30t EAF + LF + VOD steel melting process ensures ultra-low phosphorus (≤0.01%) and sulfur (≤0.007%) content, minimizing non-metallic inclusions and improving material stability and lifetime.
- Wide Global Standard Compliance: Meeting European EN, German DIN, ASTM, and API standards and it is the best choice material for projects in Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
